Thoughts and musings on the upcoming open house:

Hi.

My name is Inge and I’m the office coordinator at the NHC. Soon, we’ll be having an Open House.

The date’s been chosen for a long time, the teachers have confirmed, the ads are in the paper, a facebook event has been created and even the name tags are ready. There’s still a few loose ends to tie up, there always are, but this is the moment where I get to sit back and relax and chat with you about my hopes and dreams :P . Well, sort of. My hopes and dreams about this open house at least.

I’m seeing myself sitting at the table in the entrance with the orange tablecloth on it. I’m marveling at all the people walking by, asking questions, getting curious, and feeding their excitement for… life!

Think I’m getting a little too excited? That an open house really can’t be that thrilling? It’s possible that I am. It’s just that… I know the value of getting inspired, of contemplating new realities, of feeling like people around me are finally talking about something that actually matters…
I also know that I’m really not the only one who loves listening to someone talk about something they’re truly and deeply knowledgeable and passionate about. And finally, I know that sometimes you just stumble in somewhere not knowing what to expect and then… you realize it’s just right, that you needed it.

All I’m saying is… that I hope we can create the right conditions for people to feel that way when they walk in here.
